THE WORK Don Sottile works primarily in carved wood and cast bronze, creating sculptures and statues expressing human form both from imagined interpretation and reality, from photographs, live models and life.
As a portrait artist, he makes his pieces credible. His talent is expressed in various styles, but always anatomically true to life in proportion and gesture. Portraits can be created with realistic accuracy or more impressionistic, in nature, while still capturing the likeness and spirit of the subject.
